Tuleburg Sams

NORCAL CHAPTER OF THE YEAR FOR 2014 AND 2017

The Tuleburg Sams Chapter of the Northern California Good Sam Club was established in 1977, with members celebrating the 40th anniversary in 2017.  The club is based in Stockton, but the members live as far away as Sacramento and Merced and all points in between.  The members include retirees and some that are still working, currently making up 26 rigs.   About 80% of our members are in attendance at any outing.  Membership has grown greatly in the last few years because of the many activities of the chapter, including those at the annual Rally and because of charitable work.  The chapter has earned the Chapter of the Year award for 2014 and 2017 by working together on many projects.  Current members also encourage friends and family to join in the fun. A typical outing is over a weekend that starts on Friday and ends on Sunday, with some of the members coming in on Thursday.  Members gather together on Friday for appetizers which are provided by the members, along with catching up on the latest news.  Card games and board games often follow in the evening.  On Saturday the trail bosses provide breakfast, with the chapter meeting following afterward.  In the afternoon members gather together for a craft time presented by one of the members or for other special activities.  Members may also enjoy the outing’s location by going sightseeing in the area.  Saturday night features a special dinner planned by the trail bosses either in potluck, barbecue, or catered style.  The night ends with a campfire and/or games, and plenty of fellowship.   A major focus for the chapter is charity work, with the St. Mary’s Dining Room in Stockton the focus currently.  Monetary gifts and clothing donations are the primary way the chapter has supported this worthy organization, with a volunteer opportunity being planned.  Members have also created quilts, hats, scarves, and jewelry and donated those items to other local charities for distribution among their clients.  In 2017, members gathered to clean up a rural historic cemetery in Liberty, California, donating more than 400 hours in this effort.   The Tuleburg Sams combine fun, fellowship, and charitable focus into our Chapter’s activities, creating a fun and satisfying experience for all members.
